Football Recap: Broncos Edge Struggling Jets in Defensive Affair

In a defensive struggle on Sunday, the Denver Broncos managed to secure a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Quarterback Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and kicker Wil Lutz kicked the late go-ahead field goal to seal the ugly win.

Dominant Display Wins Contest

Despite registering nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos found themselves trailing 11-10 after conceding a two-point play in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce just 82 total net yards during the contest.

Nix, who went 19 of 30 passes for 174 yards, led a decisive 12-play, 65-yard possession that ended with Lutz's short kick with approximately five minutes left.

Record Struggles for Jets Offense

In spite of their horrendous performance, the Jets still had the ball with a opportunity to drive for a potential victory. But Fields was sacked on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn opted to go for it rather than sending out specialist Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.

Fields had difficulties all game, completing just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. The Jets finished with minus-10 net yards passing, the lowest in any game since 1998.

"The aerial attack was non-existent," Glenn commented following the contest.
