Individuals throughout all 50 states of the union are getting ready to march this Saturday, joined around a common message: America is sliding toward autocracy and there should be no rulers in America.
A multitude are expected to take part in these anti-monarchy protests, constituting another iteration of a movement that earlier gathered during one of the biggest demonstration days ever recorded in the US. Events are set for more than 2,700 venues, from tiny communities to large cities.
The current administration has taken action across urban centers, attempting to send in federal troops and adding enforcement officers. The administration is attempting to outlaw protest, going after left-leaning organizations that he claims supporting terrorism or political violence. Cities have vigorously resisted, suing to prevent federal deployments, and locals have taken to public spaces to speak out opposing the use of force of their communities.
Allies in government have sought to cast the anti-authoritarian demonstrations as anti-American and driven by anti-fascist groups, the non-hierarchical political movement, and alleging that the protests are extending the political deadlock. A prominent governor has declared he will send the state’s militia to the capital in advance of the events.
A number of public figures, among them senators from the Democratic and third-party affiliations, are slated to join the protests. The coalition movement has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to nonviolent action, and tens of thousands of attendees have prepared on safety and de-escalation tactics.
The crucial point for participants to remember is the fact that the administration wants us to become intimidated, however we won’t be coerced into submission and inaction,” stated an organizer from a participating organization. “Furthermore, it’s extremely crucial for people to remain nonviolent, to stand proud and to express what they care about, and not to be cowed by intimidation.”
More than 200 organizations have joined as partners supporting the fall rallies. Planners have identified several key locations: including Washington DC, San Francisco, SD, ATL, NYC, Houston, Oahu, Beantown, KC, Montana, Chicago NOLA.
The straightforward message of these actions states that the US rejects monarchy, a rebuke aimed at the administration's growing authoritarianism. Within the points planners have pointed to include:
The June anti-monarchy rallies drew millions into public spaces, with estimates showing that approximately several million people took part in actions across in excess of 2,000 locations in what was “probably a massive one-day protest since the president first took office several years ago”, topped only by the Women’s March in 2017.
